Hello!

Destiny Alexander | Costume Designer & Patternmaker

While a stylist makes people look good for a moment, a Costume Designer makes people look real for a story.

Her Story

With over seven years of experience across the fashion and film industries, Destiny Alexander is a Costume Designer and Patternmaker dedicated to the art of intentional construction and storytelling. As the founder of Pearl Moon Studio, Destiny blends high-level design with technical precision, moving seamlessly between the fast-paced demands of an independent film set and the focused craft of the sewing studio.

Specializing in Dallas-Forth Worth costume design and small-batch luxury headwear, Destiny’s work is rooted in a deep respect for textiles and the "DNA" of a garment. Whether she is breaking down a script for a feature film or drafting an original sewing pattern, her mission remains the same: to empower others through the language of design.

Today, Pearl Moon Studio serves as both a creative house and an educational hub, offering original sewing patterns and technical guidance for makers who value quality, heritage, and storytelling.

Process

My approach to costume design is rooted in the belief that clothing is a narrative tool. While a stylist makes people look good for a photo, a Costume Designer makes people look real for a story.

My job is to make sure the wardrobe doesn’t just fit the actor—it fits the script, the lighting, the sound department's needs, and the camera's framing. Whether I am managing a 21-day feature or a vertical digital series, I handle the technical logistics of the visual palette so the Director can focus entirely on the performances.
